Justice execution and reintegration (JuWe) is responsible for the execution of sentences and measures as part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich, as well as for the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of people who have committed crimes, the prevention of recidivism, and the detention and preparation for the departure of persons without a valid residence permit are of particular importance.

The Half-Detention Winterthur (HGW) is part of the execution facilities of the Canton of Zurich (VEZ) – one of seven main departments of JuWe – and is an institution specialized in half-detention. Additionally, places for work externship, residential and work externship, as well as open execution are offered. The HGW provides space for 25 assigned individuals.

Due to a succession arrangement, we are looking for a committed Director of Execution / Deputy Prison Director for the Half-Detention Winterthur.

As the position involves regular body searches of men, applications from male candidates are preferred.

This is your area of responsibility

• In the execution management, you are responsible for the personnel, professional, and organizational management of the execution area and ensure the regular execution daily routine, including disciplinary matters, as well as the safety of detained individuals, employees, and third parties
• You implement the leadership principles "trust, let go, experiment" and promote a culture where personal responsibility, trust, and development are highly valued
• You actively shape the strategic further development of the execution department and contribute to the long-term execution design of the HGW
• You ensure a legally compliant, dignified, and proportionate implementation of the form of detention and place importance on the promotion of detained individuals to improve their chances of successful reintegration
• You are the central contact person for the concerns of detained individuals and take on administrative tasks to optimize processes
• You engage in day, weekend, holiday, and on-call services

Your profile

• You have a federal certificate of competence or an equivalent qualification and have already gained substantial experience in a leadership position. Preferably, you have completed further training in the field of leadership
• Your strengths lie in your ability to motivate, your assertiveness, and your analytical thinking skills. Additionally, you impress with your pronounced organizational and negotiation skills as well as solid IT knowledge
• You work in a team-oriented manner, are extremely resilient and flexible. You also demonstrate great personal responsibility and high social competence
• You can express yourself very well in German, both in writing and orally, and preferably have knowledge of foreign languages
• Your reputation is impeccable, meaning you have no entries in the criminal record or debt collection register
