Development Engineer (m/f/d)

What is my function?

• Develop and design sophisticated special-purpose machinery, precision fixtures, and assembly, testing and calibration systems for the Leica Geosystems product portfolio.

• Take full ownership of the mechanical design process, from the initial concept and detailed design through manufacturing documentation to assembly, commissioning and technical verification.

• Develop manufacturing-, assembly- and cost-optimised solutions, taking tolerances, manufacturing processes, materials, standard parts and off-the-shelf components into consideration.

• Design precision-mechanical and optomechanical systems that combine mechanics, optics, sensors, actuators, electronics and software.

What do I need to be successful?

• Practical experience in special-purpose machinery, fixture design, test equipment design or the development of production systems.

• Strong understanding of precision mechanics, technical drawings, fits, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and design for manufacturing.

• Experience developing mechanical assemblies or production equipment from concept and design through prototyping to commissioning and technical verification.

• Sound knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, standard parts and off-the-shelf components, combined with a strong practical understanding of assembly and manufacturability.

• Experience with 3D CAD and PLM systems, preferably Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
