The Association for the Welfare of the Blind and Visually Impaired (ABA)

is a private non-profit association based in Geneva. Founded in 1901, its mission is to improve the quality of life, integration, and autonomy of people with visual impairments living in Geneva. With its three services, the Romande Braille and Talking Book Library (BBR), the Accessibility Competence Centre (CCA), and the Information and Rehabilitation Centre (CIR), the Association advises those affected, their relatives, and conducts awareness-raising activities for the general public. It is also active within the Geneva medico-social and political network and strives to promote the interests of blind and visually impaired people, in order to improve the daily lives of those affected by blindness or visual impairment and to support their educational, professional, and social integration.

To strengthen the social sector of the Information and Rehabilitation Centre (CIR), we are looking for:

A Social Worker M/F at 80% on a permanent contract

Within a multidisciplinary service aimed at improving the quality of life, integration, and autonomy of visually impaired people, you will be responsible for the social follow-up of our beneficiaries of all ages (care of children, young adults, and people of AI and AVS age).

Job objectives:

In close collaboration and coordination with the Centre's occupational therapists as well as all our partners (multi- and interdisciplinary care), the social worker will join a team of 7 colleagues and must carry out the following tasks:

• Inform people of their rights, particularly regarding social insurance
• Support people in routine and/or occasional administrative procedures to obtain benefits and ensure follow-up
• Provide support aimed at social and/or professional integration
• Accompany people in the necessary steps to maintain the financial balance of their budget
• Inform and guide people about the specialised services in the field of visual impairment as well as the Geneva medico-social network
• Raise awareness, inform, and collaborate with close or professional contacts about visual impairments and their impacts

Desired qualities and experience:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a social worker with skills in social insurance
• Experience related to Disability Insurance benefits would be an asset
• Organisational skills and ability to prioritise
• Analytical and synthesis skills
• Communication skills, comfortable with human contact
• Rigor and fairness
• Aptitude for working in a multidisciplinary team and collaborating with numerous partners
• Good command of spoken and written French and ease of writing

Required training and knowledge:

• Recognised diploma in social work or equivalent qualification
• Good command of office software
• Good knowledge of the Geneva medico-social network
