About the job
Head of Department Automotive Engineering 100%The Automotive Engineering Department of the Technical Vocational School Zurich TBZ is the centre of expertise for the training and further education of automotive and bodywork professions. Around 600 learners are taught by approximately 40 teachers. The basic education is complemented by a diverse range of further training opportunities.
From 1 March 2027, we are looking for a committed and strong leadership personality as Head of Department Automotive Engineering. The role is carried out within a co-leadership model. Together with your leadership partner, you bear responsibility for the personnel, pedagogical and organisational management and further development of the department.
Your tasks
You lead and develop the staff, ensure a high-quality and reliable school operation, and are responsible for the personnel and financial resources. At the same time, you further develop the educational offerings together with the stakeholders of vocational education and maintain collaboration with associations, companies, inter-company training centres and other partners. As a member of the extended school management, you also actively shape the development of TBZ.
Your profile
You have several years of teaching and leadership experience at upper secondary level II as well as a completed university degree in a field relevant to automotive engineering or general education. A teaching diploma for vocational schools is mandatory for appointment as Head of Department. You have already completed school management training or are willing to complete it promptly. A good network in the automotive industry is an advantage.
We are looking for an honest and decisive personality with strong leadership, communication and cooperation skills. You know how to lead people, bring together different interests and implement changes purposefully.
