Job Description

The ENSI teaching department of the Faculty of Medicine has the mission to create favourable conditions for high-quality training in the field of medical sciences, based on evidence-based pedagogy and using cutting-edge teaching methods.
To ensure teaching in histology, it is seeking a:
100% Lecturer
We are looking for a candidate with a specialist profile in histology who has proven teaching skills and original development of teaching methods, as well as a confirmed scientific profile.
In their area of specialisation, he/she is responsible for:
TEACHING AND STUDENT SUPERVISION
- Taking responsibility for teaching Histology in the Bachelor of Medicine, Biomedical Sciences and Biology (Lectures, practicals, exams, tutor training)
- Being co-responsible for transversal courses in scientific communication and responsible for the human skills course (Biomedical Sciences)
- Delivering the Physiology of the Reproductive System course (1st year Medicine) / CBCL: tutor
- Creating scientific teaching materials, managing the faculty's virtual microscopy site
- Taking responsibility for the normal and pathological histology module for doctoral students
- Training teachers in pedagogical skills
- Being involved in curriculum development including pedagogical innovations
- Supervising Master’s students in Medicine or a monograph project in the Biology section
- Participating in teaching and possibly research in the field of teacher training.
RESEARCH
In Pedagogy and Histology, in collaboration with colleagues and other research groups:
- Influence of assessment format on learning basic medical sciences in the first year of human medicine and biomedical sciences at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva
- Evaluation of the implementation of CBCL on student engagement in their learning
- Impact of a new histology teaching format on student participation in practicals and the development of diagnostic reasoning
- Functional histology of the clitoris
OTHER TASKS
- Management of the Faculty Histology Service platform: Management of staff (2 full-time laboratory technicians), equipment and budget. Development of services and fees. Scientific expertise.
- Co-coordination of the working group "Objectives and Format" for steering the reform of the Bachelor of Medicine.
Required Qualifications and Competences
- Doctorate in the field of biological sciences or medicine
- Master’s degree or equivalent from a higher education institution. A Privat Docent title will be preferred
- Experience in developing and managing training programmes in medical education, particularly in histology
- Curricular knowledge of medical and biomedical sciences education
- Teaching experience in medical education, especially in problem-based learning or similar formats
- Training in medical education
- Innovation and project development skills
- Beyond French, good knowledge of English and ability to write in scientific English
- Ability to unite, coordinate a team, organise and plan
- Team spirit, collegiality
- Publications and academic reputation considered an asset
