Medical Co-Director of the Medical Department

Shape the future of university medicine with us. The Insel Group is realigning itself and creating four strong medical departments: Surgery, Medicine, Integrated Medicine, and Cross-sectional Medicine. Each of the new departments will bring together 8 to 12 clinics and institutes. This will create a future-oriented organisation that networks medical expertise more closely, opens up new opportunities for collaboration and development, and reflects leadership responsibility.

What to expect

You will assume overall responsibility for one of the four departments together with your two co-director colleagues from nursing and business administration. In doing so, you combine professional excellence with strategic leadership and promote close interprofessional collaboration. A part-time clinical activity (20-50%) is desirable. Your main tasks in the department include:

• Implementation of the Insel Group's corporate strategy
• Leadership of the department; responsibility for medical and economic results
• Further development of the department including service offerings
• Planning and management of capacities and resources
• Responsibility for quality, safety, and process management
• Budget responsibility
• Personnel management of clinic and institute directors as well as other direct reports
• Promotion of interdisciplinary and interprofessional collaboration across specialties and departmental boundaries

What you bring

You are a medical executive with proven leadership qualities. You are characterised by strategic and organisational competence. You value good interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration. You bring:

• Chief physician function or senior medical role with habilitation and possibly professorship
• Several years of leadership experience in a large, ideally university, organisation
• Further training in leadership, management, or business administration
• Respectful interaction at eye level as well as strong communication skills with clear and effective communication
• Initiative, reliability, and patient- and staff-oriented thinking and acting
