The Hospital Network AR
The Hospital Network Appenzell Ausserrhoden with the acute hospital Herisau and the Psychiatric Centre AR in Herisau ensures extended basic medical care for the population in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden and is also the first point of contact for a large part of the population in the surrounding region. Both locations are relevant for care within the canton and beyond.
We are looking for
The Herisau Hospital in Eastern Switzerland is part of the Hospital Network Appenzell Ausserrhoden (SVAR) and has a Department of Internal Medicine, a Department of Surgery, a Women’s Clinic as well as a Clinic for Anaesthesiology and Emergency Medicine. The hospital also includes an interdisciplinary emergency department and a certified intensive care unit.
In the Department of Internal Medicine under the direction of Dr Simon Ritter, we are looking for a senior physician with a workload of 40–100% from 1 July 2026 or by arrangement.
Your tasks
- Co-responsibility for high-quality diagnostics and treatment of internal medicine patients
- Professional and personnel leadership and training of assistant doctors
- Close and successful collaboration with other specialist departments and referrers
- Participation in the senior medical on-call service of Internal Medicine
- Support of the chief physician and senior doctors in the management of the clinic
Your profile
- Specialist in General Internal Medicine (or near completion)
- Interest in ultrasound medicine with the aim of obtaining the ultrasound certification
- Active participation in projects and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration
- Committed personality with high social competence
