Your Job
As part of the backend development team for PlayNext, you will contribute to building a digital-first platform by unifying and enriching content metadata and ensuring the efficient delivery of high-quality media assets.
Your work will focus on creating a single, reliable source of truth content data to power personalized and curated experiences, while also supporting media workflows that deliver multiple subtitles, audio tracks, and audio descriptions.
This role aims to enhance user experience through both intelligent content discovery and inclusive, accessible playback – making PlayNext a seamless, high-quality, and user-centric streaming platform.
The skills we are looking for
- Strong experience in backend development from planning to implementation
- Java/Kotlin
- Advanced database (SQL) knowledge
- AWS
- Kafka user (administrator a plus)
- NoSQL database (Redis, CouchDB, MongoDB, or similar)
- Technical writing (e.g. analysis, tickets, ADRs)
- Fluent in English, good French or German skills
- Open and curious mindset
- Active learning and knowledge-sharing
- Transparent communication / feedback culture
Ways of working
- Main workplace is in Zurich or Geneva with readiness to travel within Switzerland once or twice a month
- Hybrid work, with one or two days required at the office
- The working hours for a full-time position are 40 hours at 8 hours per day with high flexibility
- Agile methodology, presence at all scrum meetings
- The standard SRG tools are in use (Confluence, Jira, Microsoft 365, Slack). The licences and user accounts are provided by SRG
