As of 1st October or by arrangement, Julius Baer seeks a highly motivated and experienced team player (f/m/d) to take on the group-wide lead role in advising on all aspects related to data protection and privacy laws relevant to a global financial institution. In this role, you will coordinate data protection topics and professionals globally within Julius Baer Group and manage and further develop the data protection risk framework.

YOUR CHALLENGE

You will be responsible for the full range of tasks concerning data protection and privacy. This includes:

  • advising on all data protection and privacy matters globally in close coordination with the Swiss Data Protection Officer, including in relation to compliance with banking secrecy and other legal requirements, data-related processes (e.g. data protection impact assessments, transfer impact assessments, and data breach notifications), and the operationalisation of Julius Baer's global data protection strategy

  • advising on large change projects including cloud and digital innovation projects

  • developing and implementing global standards and controls

  • preparing and maintaining legal documents, forms, and templates

  • preparing and conducting trainings on data protection topics

YOUR PROFILE

  • Master of Laws degree; bar admission, LL.M., and/or additional certifications in data privacy or technology law are an advantage

  • At least 5 years of professional experience as a data protection and privacy lawyer with international exposure, preferably within the financial industry

  • Profound and practical knowledge of Swiss and EU data protection laws as well as of related Swiss financial market regulations 

  • You are passionate and curious for technology, innovation, and digitalisation topics and willing to constantly expand your knowledge in the relevant fields of expertise

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to efficiently communicate with stakeholders of a broad variety of backgrounds (such as Information Security, IT, IT Sourcing, Chief Data Officer, Procurement, HR, Business and Legal)

  • You are a positive self-starter with a can-do attitude who proactively approaches problems in an analytical way and comes up with structured and tailored solutions

  • Excellent command of German and English (written and spoken)
