The SVP Global Head of Data & Analytics (D&A) is a member of the pRED leadership team (pLT), reporting to the Head of pRED. Aligned with the Roche Group and pRED Strategy, and in the context of R&D Excellence, the SVP Global Head of D&A sets the D&A vision and strategy to improve patient outcomes through unlocking the power of data, technology and computational approaches to novel drug discovery and early clinical development.

In this highly visible role, the SVP Global Head of D&A will lead D&A, acting as an ambassador for pRED across the Roche R&D ecosystem and beyond. With D&A operating in a hub and spoke concept, the D&A Head will lead the hub and also have the overall strategic leadership of D&A capabilities across pRED. D&A activities include but are not limited to Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Image Analysis, Modelling & Simulation, Data Science, Computational Chemistry, Computational Medicine and Digital Health as well as Data Architecture, Data Engineering and Data Management and Data Visualization.

This role will

  • Contribute to the overall pRED strategy and portfolio in close collaboration with the pRED Leadership Team (pLT) and the Head of pRED

  • Foster a world-leading scientific D&A community propelling drug discovery and early clinical development to a future of digital augmented science

  • Catalyse the deep embedding of D&A in pRED to accelerate drug discovery and early clinical development

Job Mission

Lead and empower all D&A capabilities across pRED, influencing and building networks with the wider Roche ecosystem

  • Forms a compelling vision and strategy for D&A across pRED in partnership with Global Functions

  • Attracts, develops, and retains top talent to build an industry leading computational pillar for Research and Development including target discovery, drug discovery and early clinical development

  • Responsible for bringing D&A topics to the fore across the pRED organisation and facilitates the development of data savvy cultures across the organisation

  • Creates and maintains inclusive and transparent decision-making mechanisms for allocation of D&A resources in line with portfolio and D&A transformation needs

Ensuring deep embedding of D&A capabilities and solutions into the pRED portfolio

  • Evolves an innovation and science-driven organisation that serves pRED with industry leading activities and platforms, leading a high-performing D&A capability focusing on advancing the pRED portfolio and providing industry-leading D&A solutions

  • Ensures delivery of required D&A solutions, and efficiency in D&A operations

  • Accountability for adherence to, and development of pRED & Roche D&A standards, policies, and guidelines

Shape, prioritise and lead D&A-related needs across pRED, in collaboration with pRED leadership

  • Shapes in close collaboration with pRED leaders the overall pRED strategy in particular regarding all aspects of D&A transformation, and effectively connects with pRED leaders to drive outcomes

  • Responsible for positioning the pRED D&A organisation into the network of Roche global Informatics and ensuring alignment of IT infrastructure and solutions to meet the needs of pRED

  • Represents pRED’s strategy and interests in external D&A related partnerships (with startups, established companies, and academic institutions)

  • Enterprise-wide connectivity and collaboration

  • Lead and develop, together with the team of D&A leaders, an outstanding D&A capability for pRED

  • Ensure optimal leverage of D&A for the advancement of the pRED portfolio, and ensure reliable and effective delivery of D&A solutions to pRED

You are an inspiring and next-generation leader who thrives in developing impactful ambitious strategies, with a proven track record in leveraging D&A to transform drug discovery research and early clinical development organisations. You create and build competitive, novel D&A strategies and approaches for advanced analytics and data science, and thrive in establishing networks to achieve outcomes in complex matrix environments. You encourage and motivate teams to push the limits of science and drive productivity by fostering a D&A mindset in pRED allowing to fully leverage the power of D&A-augmented science, and inspire people to innovate, collaborate and create great outcomes that matter for patients.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead organisations through change; forming teams, networks and systems that encourage and enable impact and action

  • Track record in developing the full potential of people, encouraging diverse approaches, inclusiveness and teamwork. You empower teams to build the skills and mindsets they need to succeed, and hire top talent with diverse backgrounds and create an inclusive environment for them to thrive

  • Strong influencing skills enabling internal and external stakeholders to understand and address challenges and opportunities effectively, with experience in leading through complexity and ambiguity in a matrixed work environment

  • You prioritise to create clarity, simplification and focus

  • Advanced degree in data science, bioinformatics, computational biology, computational chemistry, computer science, engineering or similar is required

  • Extensive experience in computation and technology, with experience in either life sciences, chemistry, drug development, and/or healthcare
