As a Manager R&D (m/f/d) you will be trusted to work on the implementation and management of development projects in an international environment. This position is based in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Collaboration with the Project Head and the interdisciplinary core team during project execution as technical project lead

  • Work with surgeons to assess concepts and prototypes and exchange with other experts to review research work and its further development

  • Documentation of development work in compliance with all regulatory requirements

  • Collaboration with the group's internal specialist and other departments, the internal prototype workshop and/or suppliers and partners to develop prototypes of microsurgical instrumentation

  • Development and implementation of manufacturing processes, associated tools and fixtures as well as test setups to record the performance of instruments or one of the subassemblies

  • Disciplinary leadership of a team of engineers

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Master's degree / ETH / TU / FH studies in mechanical engineering or equivalent

  • Experience in project management, preferably in medical technology

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in a company regulated by ISO 13485

  • High affinity for micromechanical design and materials with the corresponding tools (3D-CAD, component design, selection of manufacturing processes)

  • Outgoing personality with a lot of initiative and very good communication skills

  • Pronounced team player behavior

  • Disciplinary leadership experience

  • Fluent German and English language skills (spoken and written)
