Process engineer on thin film coating (60-100%)

The Laboratory for Thin Films and Photovoltaics is known for its innovative research in the field of thin-film photovoltaic technologies. The Laboratory holds several world records for power conversion efficiency of flexible CIGS and all-perovskite tandem solar cells. We are looking for a process engineer to develop large area perovskite solar module using industrially scalable methods, such as slot-die coating and PVD methods.

Your tasks

  • Preparation and implementation of technical/scientific experiments using physical vapor deposition (magnetron sputtering, thermal evaporation, electron beam evaporation), atomic layer deposition (ALD), and slot-die coating methods
  • Material characterizations and analysis using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV-Vis spectrometry, XRF, profilometry, photoluminescence etc.
  • Laser scribing and solar module fabrication on both glass and flexible substrate
  • Preparation of experiment reports
  • Operation and maintenance of coating systems

Your profile

  • Completed MSc or PhD training/degree
  • Hands-on experience with thin-film technologies for independent, goal-oriented work with a high degree of flexibility and enjoyment of application-oriented tasks
  • Interest in the field of solar energy
  • Personal responsibility and a high level of safety and risk awareness
  • Good written and spoken English skills are a prerequisite and German is advantageous
