About the Team and your role
The Actuarial Control team is part of Risk Management with Group responsibilities to both the Chief Actuary (Head of The Actuarial Control team is part of Risk Management with Group responsibilities to both the Chief Actuary (Head of Actuarial Control) and the Chief Risk Officer. We provide independent oversight for the Group on both L&H and P&C Reserves as well as independent validation of the Group Internal Capital Model and models used for reserving and costing.

This is an opportunity to become part of a highly skilled team of senior actuaries providing high quality assurance on actuarial matters. Actuarial Control provides senior management and the Board(s) of Directors with assurance that reserves are adequate - by offering independent opinion, challenge and oversight on reserving activities. This ensures that Swiss Re can meet its promise to pay out claims, making Swiss Re resilient and ensuring that we can continue to make the world more resilient.

You will become an integral part of the Actuarial Control team ensuring that our reserves remain resilient.

Your responsibilities
In this role you will be accountable for:

  • Leading P&C reserves analyses to come up with an independent view on the reserve's adequacy.

  • Supporting the production of the quarterly group closing material in providing management with the most relevant information.

  • Performing 'deep dives' assessing the quality of reserving on specific portfolios through reviews of assumptions, data, models and reserving processes.

  • Leading the review and implementation of IFRS reporting across both the Group and Risk Management.

  • Driving continuous process improvements and technology applications by utilizing programming skills, statistical modelling, and data visualization and communication.

  • Having opportunities to grow in other tasks of the wider team within Actuarial Control.

About You

  • Qualified actuary with P&C experience in reserving, financial reporting or pricing

  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, and navigate ambiguity

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with good spoken and written English

  • Experienced in working with multiple teams across functions and geographies

  • Strong academic background with a good foundation in mathematical statistics and numerical methods

  • Ability in programming in R, Python, VBA or SAS is desired

  • Ability and courage to constructively challenge actuarial analysis, as well as keeping a business mind-set at the same time
