Postdoc on protein evolution at EPFL
Job description
We are currently looking for a postdoc to join our group. The position will be initially for 1 year, with the possibility of renewal. The start date is flexible. For full consideration, please apply by June 6, 2025.
Our group mainly focuses on modeling evolution and extracting information from evolutionary data, from molecules to microbial populations. Possible projects include studying the evolution of protein-protein interactions, and inferring evolutionary constraints from sequence data, both in general and in specific cases motivated by experimental collaborations. Postdocs are given substantial intellectual freedom to develop their own research directions.
EPFL offers excellent working conditions, competitive salaries, and a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural and stimulating environment. See also https://www.epfl.ch/labs/bitbol-lab/join-us/
Profile requirements
We develop approaches based on mathematical and physics-based modeling, statistical inference and machine learning (especially protein language models). Experience in one or several of these areas will thus be valued.
We are an interdisciplinary group and we welcome people with diverse backgrounds and trainings. For instance, people with training in physics, applied mathematics, computer science, biophysics, computational biology or life sciences engineering can all fit in the Laboratory.
How to apply
- a cover letter explaining your motivation to join the group;
- a complete CV;
- a copy of your transcripts
