As Medical Director, you will shape and lead the medical strategy across the portfolio, ensuring scientific excellence, regulatory compliance and strong collaboration with commercial teams. You will act as the primary medical expert internally and externally, while maintaining close relationships with key opinion leaders, medical societies and healthcare professionals across Switzerland.
We are supporting an entrepreneurial pharmaceutical organisation with a strong and diverse portfolio across Gynaecology, Internal Medicine, Hemostasis-Cardiology and Neurology. As the business continues to grow, they are now looking to appoint a Medical Director to act as a medical and scientific advisor within their swiss network.
This is a highly visible role, combining strategic leadership with hands-on medical affairs activity in a lean and agile environment.
Description
Key responsibilities of the Medical Director
Medical & scientific leadership
- Provide strategic medical input into company objectives, brand planning, clinical development and market access activities
- Act as the medical expert for internal teams and external stakeholders
- Support product launches through advisory boards, scientific meetings and medical events
- Ensure all promotional and non-promotional materials are compliant with Swissmedic and international regulations and aligned with current scientific knowledge
Regulatory & compliance
- Oversee pharmacovigilance activities and ensure compliance with local and EU requirements
- Provide medical input into regulatory submissions and interactions with health authorities
- Maintain and update SOPs relating to medical governance
- Act as the medical signatory for promotional materials
Cross-functional collaboration with Marketing
- Partner closely with Marketing to shape brand and indication strategies
- Provide proactive medical input into campaigns, content and launch planning
- Translate clinical data into clear, relevant and compliant key messages, balancing scientific integrity with commercial objectives
Field engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with KOLs, HCPs and patient advocacy groups
- Conduct field visits to hospitals, clinics and congresses to gather insights and provide scientific support
- Represent the company at national and international medical congresses
Clinical research & data generation
- Support interventional and non-interventional studies
- Facilitate Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS) and Real-World Evidence (RWE) generation
- Monitor scientific literature and the competitive landscape
- Collaborate with global medical affairs and clinical operations teams
Medical education & training
- Deliver disease and product training to internal teams, including sales and marketing
- Review and approve educational materials for scientific accuracy and compliance
- Respond to medical information requests from healthcare professionals
Profile
About you
- Medical degree (MD), with further education or specialisation in gynaecology or internal medicine
- Ideally 3-5 years' experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical industry
- Strong understanding of the Swiss healthcare system and regulatory environment
- Confident using Microsoft tools and scientific literature databases (e.g. PubMed, Cochrane Library)
- Fluent in German and English; French is an advantage
- Role open to specialist from the all DACH region. (Germany, Austria)

- Hybrid working model: approx. 30% field-based (1.5 days), with the remainder split between home office and company office
