Formed in 1921, the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) is the governing body for all international events in Jumping, Dressage and Para Dressage, Eventing, Driving and Para Driving, Endurance and Vaulting. It establishes the regulations and approves equestrian programmes for Championships, Continental and Regional Games as well as the Olympic & Paralympic Games.
FEI promotes equestrianism in all its forms and encourages the development of the FEI equestrian disciplines throughout the world, keeping the welfare of the horse at the heart of all activities.
Today, the FEI has about 130 members of National Federations and there are over 4,500 international events annually, including a number of FEI Championships and global FEI series. Over 120,000 athletes and horses are registered and women and men compete as equals.
Over 100 FEI staff are working in FEI’s Headquarters in Lausanne, ensuring the sport continues to grow and flourish, the rules are enforced, the results are processed, the international calendar is managed, and that the very values that are at the core of equestrian sport are safeguarded and promoted.

The FEI is seeking an experienced HR Generalist (80%) to join a dynamic team. This is initially a fixed-term contract for 9 months, with the potential to transition into a permanent role. The position is based in Lausanne and is available immediately, with the starting date to be mutually agreed upon.
Purpose of the Role
Reporting directly to the HR Director, the HR Generalist will join the HR team, which consists of two other Generalists. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of the employee life cycle for an assigned group, serving as the primary point of contact for all HR-related matters.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience as an HR Generalist, enabling them to provide comprehensive support and reinforce the team in the key responsibilities outlined below.
In addition to day-to-day duties, the new team member will actively collaborate on the implementation of various HR projects, contributing to the continued growth and development of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- General HR Administration: Manage entire employee life cycle ensuring smooth operation of employee on boarding, internal changes and departures;
- Time Management: Track and monitor various absences sick leave and workplace accidents with payroll and external providers;
- Work Authorisations: Manage work permit applications and renewals in Switzerland;
- Recruitment: Manage entire recruitment processes, conduct interviews, and process candidate offers;
- Insurance Matters: manage all insurance matters (loss of earnings, accident, pension fund) related to the assigned population;
- Performance Appraisals: Implement and manage year-end process;
- Training Development: Manage training requests for the assigned population based on performance appraisals and yearly budget;
- HR Projects: Participate in various HR projects according to the needs of the department; and
- HR Compliance: act as a catalyst to enforce HR policies
Position Requirements
- Brevet fédéral in Human Resources or proven experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar role, with experience in another sports organisation considered a plus
- Proficiency in English and French (written and spoken)
- Solid knowledge of working Swiss Labour Law
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with others at all levels.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Strong team player, discrete with a strong service mindset
- Computer literate. Excellent command of Microsoft Office
