Position Summary

The Nestlé System Technology Centre (NSTC) in Orbe is Nestlé's leading R&D center for the design, development and deployment of Nestlé delivery systems, offering expertise in machines, packaging and products for in-home and out-of-home.

As an R&D Associate Specialist in Electronics, you will be part of the Electronics & Rapid prototyping team, developing the electronics for multiple prototype projects related to the development of new coffee machines.
Your responsibilities will include creating electrical connections and programming microcontrollers or PLCs.

You will have the opportunity to work on projects such as developing automated test benches to support the packaging or product team, test benches for calibrated pictures, and prototypes of coffee machines. In these projects, you will collaborate closely with the mechanical engineering department to design the electrical and control components.
On top of the technical responsibilities, you will have some room to work on promoting the department's achievements across the internal network of experts, through visual communication, video editing, and communication strategy.

A Day in the Life of a R&D Associate Specialist in Electronics

  • Design electronics according to the project brief
  • Buy electrical & electronic material to create prototypes
  • Design or modify the software of Microcontrollers (or PLCs) to implement the required functionalities
  • Test the equipment to ensure functionalities are aligned with the requirements
  • Design and execute tests to generate necessary data to validate the solutions
  • Occasionally, you will have the opportunity to create a small prototype printed circuit board (PCB) and program a microcontroller.
  • Connect and collaborate with other specialist/experts with different competencies inside the company

What will make you successful

  • Degree in Electronics, Computer science or a relevant field
  • Experience in PLC programming essential
  • Familiarity with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and PCBs with 32-bit ARM microcontrollers
  • Knowledge of microcontroller programming languages C, C++, Phyton
  • Knowledge of mechanical rapid prototyping, including 3D printing, is a plus
  • Ability to understand project requirements and translate it into suitable solutions
  • Capability to work and collaborate effectively with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Proactive mindset and creative problem solving
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Content creation and video editing skills a plus
  • Fluent in English, French is a plus
