At the University Psychiatric Centre (UPZ) Bern, you accompany people with psychotic and affective disorders through acute crisis situations on the open psychosocial ward Münsingen (OPM). Especially at night, your presence, calmness and professional actions are particularly important: you provide security, recognise changes early and are a reliable contact person for our patients. In doing so, you work independently and at the same time closely with your team – with an attitude characterised by appreciation, empathy and meeting on equal terms.
Your tasks
- You actively shape the night on the ward and ensure professional nursing care for the patients
- You observe the mental and physical condition and recognise relevant changes or developments early
- In acute crises and challenging behaviour, you intervene appropriately and apply your psychiatric expertise purposefully
- You administer prescribed medications and nursing-medical measures professionally and ensure the necessary care during the night
- You document your observations, interventions and relevant events comprehensibly and ensure the flow of information within the treatment team through careful handover
- You work closely with the responsible medical and nursing specialists and actively contribute your observations and assessments to further treatment
- You participate in the further development of the ward concept and contribute your experiences and ideas to the quality of psychiatric care
Your profile
- You hold a diploma as a nursing specialist HF/FH or an equivalent foreign diploma recognised in Switzerland
- You have experience in psychiatric nursing or bring experience from somatic care and wish to develop professionally in psychiatry
- You work independently, responsibly and calmly and thoughtfully during the night, even in demanding situations
- You are interested in complex psychiatric issues and approach people with different clinical pictures openly and without prejudice
- You communicate clearly and appreciatively and can establish a professional relationship even in demanding situations
- You work reliably and carefully and value collaboration with an interprofessional team
