About the job
A cantonal public law institution, the CNP is tasked with leading the health policy of the canton of Neuchâtel in the field of mental health, in collaboration with partner institutions. The CNP aims to rehabilitate patients suffering from mental disorders by adopting an integrated and community psychiatry model; it implements public policies for the promotion and prevention of mental health; it acts as a reference centre in the field of professional training and research in psychiatry.
The outpatient sector of the department of advanced age (CNPâa) offers a comprehensive care service in the Canton of Neuchâtel. Our multidisciplinary teams support patients aged 65 and over presenting complex psychiatric disorders, using an integrative and person-centred approach.
As chief physician of the outpatient service in psychiatry of advanced age, you will be responsible for the clinical and organisational management of a sector with extensive missions: consultations, day hospital, mobile team, and intra-hospital liaison.
Chief Physician - Outpatient Psychogeriatrics
In your role you will be expected to:
Care pathways and sector coordination
o Support the implementation of specific programmes around patient care pathways and contribute to their coordination between the different sector facilities
o Ensure clinical coherence between the various outpatient sector facilities
o Organise collaboration and multidisciplinary work with the CNP’s external partners
Clinical practices and quality of care
o Guarantee the quality and coherence of care within the CPCL units (consultations and day hospital in Neuchâtel) and UOL (mobile team and intra-hospital liaison), by supervising and participating in all their activities
o Develop direct and continuous clinical practice with patients
o Contribute to the evaluation and continuous improvement of clinical practices
Planning and strategic development
o Participate in defining the outpatient sector’s strategy and its evolution according to cantonal needs, as well as in quality improvement and care pathway projects
o Develop plans and programmes necessary to achieve objectives decided by the medical management and the department of advanced age
o Support and optimise outpatient tariff measures
Supervision, training and research
o Ensure supervision, evaluation and postgraduate training of the service’s doctors
o Participate in continuing education and supervision activities
o Encourage clinical research projects
The skills required for this position are as follows:
Titles and qualifications
o FMH postgraduate specialist title in psychiatry and psychotherapy, or a title deemed equivalent by MEBEKO
o Additional qualification in psychiatry and psychotherapy of the elderly desired (or commitment to obtain it)
System knowledge
o Good knowledge of the care system and its actors (outpatient network, nursing homes, home care, primary care medicine)
o Knowledge of the postgraduate training system and strong interest in teaching and supervision
o Knowledge of the tariff system and social insurances applicable in the field
Managerial skills
o Proven experience in managing a unit or multidisciplinary team, with the ability to carry a vision and support change
o Planning, negotiation and organisational flexibility skills
o Ability to lead projects and ensure their long-term follow-up
Relational and collaboration skills
o Spirit of interdisciplinary work, both in teams and networks
o Listening skills, collegiality and communication
