What you can look forward to.
At the SBB intervention, you are ready around the clock for emergencies. Over 80 modern emergency vehicles on rails and roads are in operation. What makes this profession unique? You are a railway specialist, train driver and firefighter all in one. In the event of an incident, you take care of the safety of our customers and help ensure that rail traffic returns to normal as quickly as possible. Attractive working conditions are important to us.
What you can achieve.
- In an alarm situation as well as during exercises, you respond as a train driver with the fire and rescue train together with your team and ensure the safety of our customers.
- In incidents affecting rail traffic, you share responsibility for the protection of people, animals, the environment and rail infrastructure.
- On site, you ensure the safety of all travellers, fight fires on and beside the tracks, provide oil and chemical spill response as well as technical assistance. The use of drones helps to quickly assess the situation.
- You regularly train the various workflows and techniques to ensure smooth incident management at all times. You work a 24-hour shift system from Monday to Friday and are on call at weekends. Irregular working hours are the norm with us. In return, you can enjoy free ski slopes during the week and arrange your leisure time more flexibly.
What you bring with you.
- Thanks to your high sense of responsibility and safety awareness, you understand the dependencies and impacts on your team and your work. For us, teamwork and community are important values you can always rely on. This includes enjoying working independently and being physically and mentally resilient.
- You have completed a vocational apprenticeship with a Federal VET Diploma (EFZ). You already hold a driving licence for traction vehicles in category B100 or are willing to complete the corresponding internal paid training.
- You hold a driving licence in category B and ideally also in category C1 118.
- You are certified for respiratory protection and have experience as a firefighter.
- You are fluent in German (spoken and written) and are willing to obtain a French diploma at level A1.
- During the application process, we will require a current criminal record and debt enforcement register extract (not older than 3 months). The document can be ordered when invited for a personal interview.
Your salary and benefits.
Classification during the second training is based on function and age. More information about the specific salary for this role can be found under Career Changer .
