AI Engineer (m/f/d)

- You identify AI potentials together with the team, conduct feasibility studies, and develop viable solutions for specialist departments and internal teams
- In this role, you independently develop AI applications, including with PyTorch and Python, and transfer them into productive operation
- As an AI engineer, you design and implement RAG systems, system prompts, guardrails, and integrate MCP servers
- You work cross-team with IT security, network, and platform teams to ensure AI services are provided securely, performantly, and in a standardised manner
- In this role, you cooperate closely with IT architecture, introduce modern AI approaches, and support requirement engineering around GenAI
- As an AI engineer, you test workflows and LLMs, evaluate new models, and contribute to best practices and governance topics as an enabler and driver of AI in the DIIN
Qualifications:
- You have training in the IT field as well as initial professional experience in a comparable role (e.g. AI engineering, data science, platform engineering) and very good German language skills, both spoken and written.
- You possess solid knowledge of Python and ideally experience with PyTorch as well as modern LLM frameworks.
- You have practical experience with LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases, and prompt engineering; knowledge of MCP, agent frameworks, or guardrails is a plus.
- You are enthusiastic about modern AI and platform topics and have a good understanding of container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), GPU workloads, or MLOps, or you want to specifically expand your knowledge in these areas.
- You work in a structured and solution-oriented manner and enjoy collaborating with internal teams (security, network, platform, architecture, IAM) as well as external partners.
