About the job
Building Technician HLKKSE (m/f/d) – With Responsibility and Heart for Our Buildings
In the Facility Services Department of ETH Zurich, we create the optimal conditions for teaching, research and technology transfer. We maintain the buildings and ensure the energy and media supply as well as the technical and infrastructural building management of all rooms used by ETH Zurich.
Are you someone who loves technical challenges and enjoys working where complex building technology meets teaching and research? Do you keep an overview even in dynamic situations and ensure that everything runs reliably? Then this position could be just right for you.
For the Hönggerberg site, we are looking immediately or by arrangement for a Building Technician HLKKS (m/f/d) in the Building Area HP .
Job Description
In this versatile and responsible position, you and your team ensure that all HLKKS systems operate without faults, safely and energy-efficiently. You take on the planning, prioritisation and implementation of maintenance and repair measures, ensuring that all technical systems function reliably at all times.
You coordinate external service providers, accompany their deployments, monitor the quality of the work and ensure that maintenance contracts are adhered to. Planning, procurement and management of spare and reserve materials are also your responsibility. With your technical know-how, you drive ongoing operational optimisations: you analyse processes, control and regulation systems, identify improvement potentials and independently implement measures.
When commissioning and accepting new and existing systems, you contribute your HLKKSE expertise and ensure their safe and efficient operation. During construction work, you represent the building services requirements, coordinate interfaces, work closely with project teams and participate in construction meetings, intermediate inspections and HLKKS acceptances.
In quality management, you ensure compliance with internal standards, record and maintain system data in GMIS/Planon and actively initiate improvements. Furthermore, you take on on-call duties such as day on-call for the Building Area HP and, if necessary, 7/24 on-call at Hönggerberg. You are also a key person in the area of safety: you ensure personal and operational safety, manage safety areas, respond to alarms, and support the fire alarm and evacuation teams.
In short: you are a main pillar of smooth, safe and modern building operations – professionally skilled, responsible and with an eye for the big picture.
Profile
- A completed HLKKSE training as well as further training in maintenance or an equivalent qualification such as ventilation, heating, cooling, sanitary service technician, commissioning specialist or control technician, always with very good hydraulic know-how.
- At least 10 years of experience as a service technician, in operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of complex building services systems.
- Sound expertise, analytical thinking and the ability to assess and specifically improve processes, control strategies and system behaviour.
- Organisational skills, flexibility and experience in dealing with various contact groups – from specialists to external partners.
- Careful, structured working method and willingness to systematically maintain and further develop operational and system data.
- Sense of responsibility, reliability and the ability to act calmly and professionally in safety-relevant situations.
- High team spirit, clear and appropriate communication, solution-oriented working style and enjoyment of an academically demanding environment.
- Good MS Office and CAFM knowledge, as well as very good German and good English skills.
