Dipl. Nursing Specialist Permanent Night Watch Crisis Intervention Unit

At the Crisis Intervention Unit of the University Psychiatric Centre Bern, you accompany adults in acute psychological emergencies during the night and play a crucial role in ensuring stability, safety, and orientation. At the location of the University Psychiatric Services at the Inselspital, we offer specialised care services for adults in psychosocial crises.

During the night, you take on a central role in the treatment team: you work independently, make situation-appropriate decisions, and ensure a stable environment with your professional competence and calmness. Your presence, attentiveness, and empathy make the difference – especially when people are particularly vulnerable.

Your Tasks

• You care for and support people in acute crises in an acute psychiatric setting during the night
• You take responsibility for the safety, stability, and well-being of the patients
• You observe the psychological and somatic condition, recognise changes early, and initiate necessary measures
• You independently implement medical orders and work closely with the medical on-call service
• You create a therapeutic, calm night atmosphere and support patients in challenging situations
• You ensure careful nursing documentation and a structured handover to the day shift

• You hold a diploma as a nursing specialist FH / HF and ideally have experience in the acute psychiatric field
• You enjoy working independently, responsibly, and make confident decisions even at night
• You remain calm and composed in complex or tense situations
• You have a high level of social and self-competence as well as a respectful attitude towards patients
• You have good German language skills, both spoken and written
