About the job
University Clinic for Adult Psychiatry and Psychotherapy
from 1 October 2026 or by arrangement
You are calm personified and an initiator at the same time – for our patients, the team, and nursing development. At the University Psychiatric Centre Bern (UPZ), nursing means far more than care: it is a crucial factor for stabilisation, safety, and recovery in acute psychiatric crisis situations. On the Lüthi ward, a specialised acute ward, our team supports people with complex psychiatric challenges around the clock. With your additional role of specialist responsibility, you significantly contribute to patients feeling safe, respected, and understood – even in stressful moments. The UPZ offers an environment where evidence-based nursing, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional innovation come together.
Your tasks
- You take on specialist responsibility for nursing on the ward and promote evidence-based, high-quality patient care
- You professionally support people with illnesses from the schizophrenic spectrum, schizoaffective disorders, or delusional disorders through demanding treatment phases
- You support and advise the nursing team on complex nursing issues and promote professional exchange
- Together with the interdisciplinary treatment team, you further develop nursing concepts and implement current findings into practice
- You actively engage in nursing development, initiate improvements, and contribute to the advancement of our quality standards
- You plan, coordinate, and evaluate the nursing process and ensure professional documentation
Your profile
- You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a diploma as a nursing specialist HF/FH and are willing to complete the bachelor’s degree
- You bring professional experience in psychiatry and ideally have sound knowledge in caring for people with psychotic illnesses
- You enjoy shaping nursing developments and sharing your knowledge within the team
- You work independently, responsibly, and keep an overview even in demanding situations
- You value interprofessional collaboration and approach patients with appreciation, empathy, and professionalism
- You have very good German language skills, both spoken and written
