The horticultural establishment is responsible for all the production of plants and flowers that beautify the flowerbeds of the parks and cemeteries of the City of Neuchâtel. We also provide decorations for certain City events.
We are looking for a:
Apprentice horticulturist, plant production option (CFC)
Training location: Urban Planning, Mobility and Public Spaces Department – Parks and Promenades Office - Cernier Greenhouses.
Your main activities:
» Prepare the soils (outdoor grounds, under greenhouses, etc.) to receive the plants: plough, fertilise and incorporate organic material and nutrient solutions.
» Sow seeds, label them and care for them.
» Propagate species using cutting techniques (take a fragment from a plant and grow it in soil).
» Transplant plants either into open ground or into pots.
» Pinch out plants, stake them, band them and space them to ensure optimal growth.
» Identify and neutralise pests, treat plants attacked or affected by disease.
» Prepare and package plants and cut flowers for planting and sale.

» You are eager to learn, persistent and reliable.
» You enjoy working in a team.
» You have successfully completed your compulsory schooling.
» You are interested in nature.
If your application is successful, you will undertake an internship, which will allow you to get to know the profession and meet the team, but also for us to get to know you.
