The Parks and Promenades Office of the City of Neuchâtel is responsible for preserving, maintaining, and enhancing the public landscape heritage throughout the municipal territory with respect for sustainable development and a commitment to encouraging biodiversity.
We are looking for a:
Apprentice horticulturist, landscaping option (CFC)
Training location: Urban Planning, Mobility and Public Spaces Department – Parks and Promenades Office – Neuchâtel.
Your main activities:
Landscaping, creation based on plans and requests from supervisors.
You will participate in:
» setting up a site (measuring distances, calculating areas, marking out, profiling, aligning templates)
» earthworks, various dismantling, installation of drainage systems (inspection chambers, gutters, pipes, etc.)
» installation of fences and handrails
» construction of foundations, retaining walls, stairs (stone, slabs, wood), paths, squares or edges, creation and management of playgrounds, etc.
Maintenance of green spaces, parks, sports fields, walking areas:
According to planning, you will participate throughout the seasons in:
» creating flower beds, planting (annuals, perennials, shrubs, trees)
» maintenance of cemeteries, recreational areas, management of trees in the city’s public parks
» mowing lawns, weeding flower beds, pruning hedges, trees and ornamental shrubs, etc.
Your profile:
» You are eager to learn, persistent and reliable.
» You have good physical endurance and enjoy being outdoors in all weather.
» You enjoy working in a team.
» You have successfully completed your compulsory schooling.
» You are interested in nature.
If your application is successful, you will undertake an internship, which will allow you to get to know the profession and meet the team, but also for us to get to know you.
