Head of System Engineering Telecommunications (80-100%) - 1550

Ensuring electricity in Switzerland

In this exciting role, you and your team are responsible for the holistic system engineering of the telecommunications infrastructures at Swissgrid locations and external stations. You will take on the following tasks:

Responsibility for design, system planning and further development of the entire telecommunications landscape and ensuring architecture, technology and standardisation decisions

Leading and developing a high-performing expert team, targeted promotion of skills and establishing clear governance

Ensuring economic efficiency, future viability, high availability and cybersecurity of telecommunications systems – from conception through procurement to commissioning

Coordinating collaboration with internal and external stakeholders

Promoting cross-departmental, trustful cooperation and shaping an attractive, motivating working environment at the Aarau site

This is how you make a difference

For this role, we are looking for a decisive personality with proven change management skills and systematic problem-solving and decision-making competence. You are flexible, resilient and have the ability to create a motivating working environment. You bring the following:

Engineering degree (FH, ETH, University) in electrical engineering or similar, ideally with further training in business administration

Experience in system engineering and cybersecurity

Leadership experience at team leader level (both technical and personnel)

Ability to delegate tasks or work packages and to manage your team by setting clear goals, deadlines and budgets

Ability to promote constructive criticism, risk-taking, development and change

Very good German and English skills, additional national languages are an advantage

About us

The Telecommunication department consists of five teams with 33 dedicated and highly motivated employees and is responsible for the complete lifecycle (engineering, implementation and operation) of Swissgrid's telecommunications, telephony, remote control and time systems.

With our great commitment and very good teamwork, we make an important contribution to Switzerland's supply security.
