Project Manager - Revitalisation of Biotopes of National Importance

The Biodiversity and Landscape Division of the Directorate General for the Environment is particularly active in the protection and management of biotopes listed in inventories, especially marshes, amphibian protection sites, alluvial forests, meadows and dry pastures. Since 2023, significant work has been launched to revitalise biotopes of national importance that exhibit hydric dysfunctions or are subject to what is considered excessive bush encroachment for the conservation of flora. Two collaborators were hired on fixed-term contracts to specify the measures to be taken, quantify them and implement them. Following the departure of one of them, we are looking for a person eager to join and support this small team located at the Maison de l'environnement in Lausanne. The position is on a fixed-term but renewable contract.

• Establish a diagnosis of the revitalisation measures to be undertaken for a given list of biotopes
• Draft specifications for companies or contractors if additional studies are necessary
• Inform the owners and operators concerned
• Award, monitor and document the work while ensuring compliance with the Vaud subsidy law, public procurement, available financial envelopes and internal monitoring tools
• Organise and implement the marking of protected biotopes of national importance in collaboration with the stakeholders involved

• Bachelor's degree from a University of Applied Sciences or equivalent qualification with very good knowledge of flora and fauna and at least 5 years of practical experience in natural habitat management
• Proven experience in project management and organisation, as well as in monitoring work
• Proficiency in geographic information systems
• Good writing skills and rigour in project monitoring
• Interpersonal skills, decisiveness and ability to work independently
