About the job
The Centre for Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine encompasses the specialties of cardiovascular, pulmonary, internal-oncological, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation, combining outpatient, inpatient, and telemedical services from the Inselspital and the Bern Rehabilitation Centre. It is one of the leading providers in the field in terms of service, teaching, and research, with national and international reach and networking. At the Inselspital, patients with cardiovascular diseases can complete outpatient cardiovascular rehabilitation also as digitally supported rehabilitation, whereby they perform part of the physical training at home instead of at the centre. For this purpose, they receive special wearable devices (e.g. fitness trackers and/or heart rate monitors) to collect digital biomarkers such as heart and respiratory rate, steps per day, and sleep data. The collected training data enable monitoring and form the basis of training advice for patients by the sports scientists. Through weekly teleconsultations, patients receive individual advice regarding suitable training types, frequency, duration, and intensity. Additionally, their barriers and motivators are addressed. Patients are thus optimally prepared to remain sufficiently physically active even after rehabilitation. Educational videos as well as various training videos and a training app are available to the patients. The video material is constantly expanded and updated. As part of the digitally supported rehabilitation and associated research studies, we continuously offer research internships. This internship can also be combined with an internship in our performance diagnostics or supplemented by a master’s thesis.
