About the job
We are looking for a Development Engineer in Basel. In this role, you translate clinical requirements into innovative technical solutions and take overall responsibility for product design. You lead development projects with responsibility for deadlines, costs, and quality, and work closely with surgeons as well as scientific partners. A central focus is on the design and optimization of products using CAD, taking into account manufacturability and regulatory requirements.

Your area of responsibility
- Translate clinical requirements into technical solutions and take responsibility for product design
- Lead development projects with overall responsibility for deadlines, costs, and quality
- Design and optimize products using CAD (including modeling, tolerance definition, and manufacturability)
- Collaborate with surgeons and scientific partners to develop and implement new products
- Participate in verification and validation activities (e.g., simulations, mechanical and biomechanical tests)
- Support the preparation of technical documentation for product approvals in cooperation with Product Management and QM/RA
- Analyze competitor products and assess patent situations in collaboration with the patent team
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, guidelines, and internal processes as well as continuous improvement of existing products
Your qualifications
- Degree in engineering (ETH/FH) or technical training with further education (e.g., TS) in mechanical engineering
- Several years of experience in medical technology, especially in development and project management
- Very good CAD skills (e.g., Inventor) and experience with PDM systems; MS Project is an advantage
- Understanding of modern manufacturing methods and design for manufacturability
- Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented working style with strong communication skills
- Very good German and English skills, both spoken and written
