Senior Engineer: EMC

Your Area of Responsibility

As a System Engineer: EMC, you ensure the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of our rail vehicles in a holistic manner. Your main tasks include:

• EMC Concept & Integration:

  • Supporting system engineers in the conception and integration of electrical systems (especially the drive train) while complying with EMC requirements.

  • Preparation of all necessary EMC documents: concepts, requirements and test specifications.

• Risk Management & Measures:

  • Holistic consideration of the vehicle to ensure electromagnetic compatibility with the rail infrastructure (rail power supply, track vacancy detection systems).

  • Systematic recording of electromagnetic risks and evaluation of suitable EMC measures to reduce risks.

  • Support and solution finding in the implementation of grounding and shielding concepts.

• Interference Analysis & Training:

  • Conducting investigations and measurements of electromagnetic disturbances on the fleets to identify causes and develop remedial measures.

  • Conducting internal training sessions (from engineering to management) to promote EMC understanding.

• Coordination & Competence Building:

  • Leading technical discussions with customers, suppliers, approval authorities and experts.

  • Active participation in interdisciplinary teams in building an EMC competence centre as well as in the creation of guidelines and manuals.

Your Profile - What You Bring

• Education: Completed degree (university level) in electrical engineering or physics.

• EMC Expertise: Solid practical experience in the field of EMC, especially regarding:

  • Interference currents and network feedback effects.

  • Electromagnetic interference emission.

  • Protective and operational grounding.

• Technical Understanding:

  • Confident understanding of electromagnetic fields and interactions.

  • Experience in measurement technology.

  • Ideally, interest in power electronics and high voltage technology.

• Soft Skills:

  • Convincing communication skills and assertiveness.

• Language Skills: Very good German and English skills (level C1) in spoken and written form.
