Your missions
As head of the department, you hold a strategic role with high political exposure. Under the direct supervision of the Syndic, your responsibilities include:
- Leading the department at strategic, human, and financial levels and contributing to the continuous adaptation of the organisation and processes with a view to anticipating future challenges and the increasing complexity of legal activities
- Providing sharp legal expertise to the Municipal Council, advising on legislative files, and managing complex cases (public procurement, land use planning, construction law, employment law, public and private law in general)
- Ensuring compliance with legality (federal, cantonal, and municipal law) and acting as a reference for data protection
- Representing the City in judicial and administrative proceedings
- Supervising mandates entrusted to external experts and lawyers
- Leading the drafting and revision of municipal regulations and ordinances
- Representing the Legal Department in various commissions or entities (internal and external)
Your profile
- Holder of a Master’s degree in Swiss law or lawyer’s certificate (strongly desired)
- Minimum 5 to 10 years of professional experience with sharp expertise in administrative and private law, land use planning and construction, employment law, public procurement, and good knowledge of the functioning of public authorities
- Proven experience in team management, unifying and collaborative leadership
- Excellent writing skills, sense of diplomacy, and ability to simplify the law for non-specialists
- Good interpersonal skills, sense of public service
- Absolute integrity, high stress resistance, and ability to manage sensitive cases
- Proficiency in common IT tools (Office 365)
- Fluency in French or German with good knowledge of the other language
