Peer Practitioner in Mental Health

The role of the PPSM is recovery-oriented and involves a specific professional stance based on hope, self-determination, and the thoughtful use of lived experience.
Within the scope of your role, you will be called upon to intervene in complementarity with the care teams, without clinical acts, respecting the professional boundaries of the role and:
o share in a professional and controlled manner elements of your lived experience and recovery journey, when useful to inspire, support, and empower patients in their own process
o promote hope, empowerment, and active participation of beneficiaries in the proposed activities
o collaborate closely with the care team to promote stigma reduction and respect for patients' viewpoints
o work in a network, notably with the Neuchâtel Association for Psychiatric Reception and Action
o lead or co-lead activities intended for patients
o observe, convey, and link lived experiences to relevant theoretical concepts to support the team in its practices
o organise and plan your interventions in accordance with the assigned mandate and institutional priorities
The required skills for this position are as follows:
o hold a diploma as a Peer Practitioner in Mental Health (PPSM) or an equivalent recognised qualification.
o be capable of interacting with people presenting psychiatric disorders.
o know the local network, external resources, and professional partners.
o master oral and written communication in French clearly and understandably.
o demonstrate autonomy and know how to organise your interventions effectively.
o show good listening, communication skills, and the ability to create a climate of trust.
o work collaboratively and actively contribute to the team’s objectives.
