Your Tasks
Care in the residential area: Together with social pedagogues and trainees, you care for 7-8 children and young people aged between 7 and 16 years in the residential group.
Your scope of work: You accompany the children and young people in everyday life, support them with challenges and promote their independence. With your presence and structure, you provide orientation and security.
Support and promotion: You perceive the needs of the children and young people, support and promote their individual abilities and develop individual goals participatively. You continuously accompany and reflect on their progress.
Work and attitude: You implement our educational basic attitude, take on organisational and administrative tasks, actively contribute to daily group life and participate in leisure activities and camp offerings.
Collaboration: Regular exchange and the development of common goals within the team shape your work. Equally important is the committed interdisciplinary collaboration with schools and other areas for continuous development.
Your Profile
Experience: You have solid experience working with children and young people and have already worked in a residential setting.
Personality: You are an upbeat, humorous and resilient personality. With patience, respect and presence, you accompany the children and young people and value teamwork. You bring flexibility for shift, weekend and holiday duties.
Education: You have a recognised qualification in social pedagogy FH/HF and have already completed practical instruction. Recognition is a prerequisite for cross-border commuters.
Language: Good, confident command of the German language in spoken and written form as well as understanding of Swiss German are required.
Insight into our Work
The Youth, Family and Sport department of the Basel-Stadt Education Department covers a wide range of topics around childcare, child and youth welfare, early support and sport. It informs and supports children, young people and those involved in upbringing and advocates for high-quality public and private services. Promoting mass sport and physical activity, in clubs and privately, is also a central task. These activities directly benefit many people in Basel: from children to parents to sports enthusiasts.
As a cantonal school home, the Waldschule supports and promotes children and young people with special educational and developmental needs. We are a small, manageable institution with high capacity. Our offer includes: residential living in flexible stages with modular entry and exit forms, special school with remedial education and support from the first primary level to vocational integration. Our offer is designed for medium- and long-term consistent support by reference persons with the aim of preventing dropouts wherever possible.
