Cloud System Engineer 100%The Office for Information Technology (AFI) is the IT competence center of the Canton of Zurich. It provides comprehensive services in the area of central IT infrastructure and canton-wide applications. Commissioned with the implementation of the "Information and Communication Technology (ICT)" strategy, the office accompanies the canton into the digital world.
Our cloud platform is growing rapidly: With increasing Azure, Power Platform, and automation projects, we are looking for you as a Cloud System Engineer to further develop, automate, and operate our Microsoft Azure environment with high availability.
Your tasks:
- Development and operation of our Microsoft Azure cloud platform (IaaS/PaaS) – sustainable and stable
- Support of cloud onboardings and migrations into the Azure environment with a focus on the Power Platform
- Design of Azure solution architectures as well as active support in their implementation in the ICT landscape
- Automation and optimization of installation, transition, and operational processes (e.g., using scripting)
- Handling of 2nd and 3rd level incidents as well as participation in incident, problem, and change management (ITSM)
- Ensuring stable operation including execution of recovery and restart procedures for Azure services
- Review and integration of cloud data and application solutions in compliance with security and platform requirements
- Support in DR/BCM measures as well as in provider reviews
- Close collaboration with engineers, architects, and specialist departments from various divisions and directorates
You bring with you:
- Higher education degree at tertiary level in computer science or equivalent training
- Several years of professional experience in cloud engineering and operations (ideally experience with Power Platform)
- Very good knowledge of Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS); basic knowledge of AWS or Google Cloud is an advantage
- Experience in operations (monitoring, stability, security) as well as in architecture design and ITSM processes
- Confident handling of development with DevOps methods and scripting/automation (e.g., Bicep)
- Advantageous: Microsoft certifications in the Azure area
- Very good German and English skills
- Willingness to participate in on-call duties
