About the job
The Biel Hospital Centre is the public medical centre for the bilingual Biel-Seeland-Jura Bernois region (Switzerland). It offers comprehensive care to the entire population in all specialised fields of modern medicine. Each year, more than 150,000 patients place their trust in us. Around 2,200 employees active in nearly 40 different professions find an attractive position with us.
The Paediatric Clinic of Biel Hospital combines the disciplines of paediatrics and paediatric surgery. It has its own interdisciplinary paediatric emergency service, an outpatient consultation, and a total of 26 beds, including 6 in neonatology.
Paediatric surgery has a service mandate to provide an extended basic paediatric surgical care, both inpatient and outpatient, as well as emergency care. The surgical spectrum includes general paediatric surgery and paediatric trauma surgery, as well as surgical care for children and adolescents of all ages, including newborns.
With the appointment of the new chief physician on 1 September 2026, a phase of professional and structural development of paediatric surgery will begin. The aim is to establish a modern paediatric surgery focused on training, with a particular emphasis on minimally invasive techniques, structured surgical training, and the development of independent clinical and scientific areas. The goal is also to obtain ISFM recognition as a category B postgraduate training institution.
The medical team consists of four consultants, one senior physician, and the chief physician.
Do you wish not only to practise clinical and surgical activities but also to actively contribute to the future development of paediatric surgery? Then come and strengthen our team from 1 November 2026 or by arrangement as
