The Swiss Bishops' Conference (SBC) is the association of the Roman Catholic bishops and territorial abbots of Switzerland. It operates its Secretariat General in Fribourg/Freiburg with 17 employees. Due to retirement, we are looking for a 1 May 2027 or by arrangement a Deputy Secretary General (60 – 80%)
Your Tasks
- Contact person for HR matters for all employees of the Swiss Bishops' Conference association
- Coordination of recruitment processes and employee appraisals
- Management of the office and contact person for further training and education
- Preparation, advice and minute-taking of the general assemblies as well as the SBC presidium meetings
- Support of projects of the Secretariat General and collaboration in the preparation of documents
- Member of the management team and participation in the preparation of the SBC budget
- Representation of the SBC Secretariat General in certain subject areas, mixed committees as well as events or international conferences
- Management of the Secretariat General in the absence of the Secretary General
- Advice on legal matters and strategy development
Your Profile
- Master’s degree in law or higher education in human resources
- Work experience managing a small, motivated team
- Personal connection to church life as well as extensive knowledge of the structures of the Roman Catholic Church, especially in Switzerland
- Flawless expression in German or French with very good oral and written skills in the other language
- Italian and English language skills are an advantage
- Strong ability to collaborate with internal and external partners with different church perspectives
- Team spirit, flexibility, resilience and willingness to work occasionally at weekends and on public holidays
