ICT System Specialist (m/f/d)
To support research and teaching, the IT Services of ETH Zurich operate as a service organisation within a large and complex IT environment. We offer the members of ETH Zurich high-quality, flexible, and scalable IT services and thereby support them in competing with the best universities in the world.
The section ID Customer Experience and Solutions (CxS) is responsible for user support and IT workplace management in research departments, central administrative units, as well as ETH-affiliated units. Additionally, CxS manages the central computer labs and operates the multifunction printers at ETH.
Job Description
To strengthen our team, we are looking for an experienced and committed individual as ICT System Specialist (m/f/d) to start immediately or by arrangement
Shape and Drive
In this versatile position, you are responsible for planning, further developing, and ensuring the smooth operation of our heterogeneous IT infrastructure. You bridge the gap between state-of-the-art technology and excellent research.
- System Engineering: You administer and optimise our client infrastructure (Windows, Mac, and Linux).
- Support & Infrastructure: You ensure the operation of IT workplaces and provide competent support.
- Innovation through Automation: Using scripting and modern tools, you automate processes and proactively develop our IT services further.
- Consulting: You support and advise staff of the ZO on all IT matters.
- Projects: You implement new customer requirements through innovative solutions within projects.
Profile
Expertise meets Team Spirit
You enjoy working in a team and appreciate working in a structured and service-oriented manner. You keep an overview in complex situations and quickly familiarise yourself with new technologies. You have the following or similar skills:
- Foundation: Completed IT training or a degree in a technically relevant field.
- System Know-how: In-depth knowledge in the administration of Windows clients, as well as experience with macOS, iOS, and Linux know-how.
- Automation: Practical experience in scripting (Bash, Python); basic knowledge of PowerShell is a plus.
- Communication: You appreciate direct exchange with users and communicate confidently in German and English.
- Further Education: You bring the willingness to continuously further your education in this exciting role.
You efficiently and independently support our customers and hold a category B driving licence.
