Head of Care

The Les Châtaigniers Association operates a medico-social establishment (EMS), a home help and care organisation (OSAD), as well as an occupational therapy organisation. It considers that the quality of services primarily depends on the women and men who make them possible.

It develops an organisation based on competence, responsibility, trust, transparency and continuous improvement. Every staff member actively participates in demanding clinical governance, promoting skills development, interprofessional cooperation and organisational innovation.

The Association integrates all its activities into an integrated management approach aimed at guaranteeing the quality of services, the safety of the people supported, the health and safety of its employees, environmental protection and the continuous improvement of its practices.

As Head of Care, you ensure the management, organisation and development of the EMS care service, in close collaboration with the management. You contribute to defining institutional care orientations and ensure their implementation, guaranteeing quality, safe and appropriate services to the people supported.

You supervise and support frontline managers, notably the unit care coordinator nurses (ICUS). You promote consistency of practices, team accountability and collaboration between different services and partners, particularly with the responsible doctor, attending physicians and care network partners.

Your duties notably include:

• steering and developing the care project;
• organising and ensuring continuity of care;
• supervising and supporting frontline managers;
• managing the service’s human and material resources;
• participating in the preparation and monitoring of the care budget;
• interprofessional coordination;
• quality, safety and risk management;
• overseeing needs assessment and clinical documentation;
• communication with residents, their relatives and network partners;
• training and skills development;
• project management and change support.

Profile sought

You are a qualified nurse with proven experience in a care management role and wish to apply your clinical and managerial expertise to a developing organisation.

You know how to translate institutional orientations into concrete objectives, unite managers and teams around a common project and combine quality care, attention to people and responsible resource management.

You meet the following conditions in particular:

• Bachelor of Science HES in nursing, ES nurse diploma or equivalent qualification. For any foreign diploma, recognition by the Swiss Red Cross;
• authorisation to practise under own professional responsibility in the canton of Geneva, obtained no later than the start of employment;
• postgraduate training in health organisation management or care service management, or equivalent training, required;
• experience in geriatrics and supporting elderly people is an asset;
• proven experience in a care management role, with demonstrated skills in team leadership, organisation and resource management;
• ability to develop participative management, delegate, make decisions and support change;
• skills in project management, continuous quality improvement and risk prevention;
• analytical, synthesis and prioritisation skills, combined with a global vision of institutional functioning;
• interpersonal ease, aptitude for dialogue and conflict management, sense of responsibility and discernment;
• commitment to the values and institutional project of the Les Châtaigniers Association;
• proficiency with professional digital tools in the care field, notably the resident’s electronic record, planning tools and monitoring indicators; knowledge of the PLAISIR method is an asset;
• good command of Microsoft 365, notably Word, Excel and Outlook.
