The Department of Medicine (DMED) provides comprehensive and specialised care for patients, both in hospital and outpatient settings. Driven by a human, holistic approach based on best medical practices, it offers reference care in numerous specialties (cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, angiology and nephrology), with availability 24/7. Committed to clinical excellence, teaching and research, the DMED promotes innovation, continuous skills development and a patient-centred care organisation, while ensuring quality of work life and service efficiency.

Within this department, the Infectious Diseases Service aims to combine clinical activity meeting the needs of a university hospital with academic research and teaching activities in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine. It provides diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients with infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS. It relies on a specialised medical team in infectiology and microbiology and develops its activities in close cooperation with numerous hospital partners to guarantee multidisciplinary and high-quality care.

This newly created position is part of the ALTER deployment, which aims to ensure compliance of work organisation with the Labour Law (LTr).

As head of clinic, you have obtained your specialist title in infectiology or are about to complete your training.

In this role, you oversee all clinical activities of the service and work in a stimulating university environment, at the interface of care, teaching and research. Thanks to your clinical expertise and adaptability, you work in the following sectors and units of the service: general infectiology consultation, outpatient infectiology consultation, septic orthopaedics, HIV, geriatric infectiology, as well as infectiology for immunocompromised patients.

Under the supervision of an attending physician, you autonomously ensure the assessment, diagnosis and follow-up of often complex clinical situations, while providing specialised support to medical and nursing teams. You apply your clinical judgement, analytical skills and decision-making ability to guarantee quality care based on best medical practices.

Thanks to your organisational skills and ability to manage priorities, you efficiently conduct your clinical activities while responding to numerous demands related to your role (patients, phone calls, correspondence, meetings). You ensure compliance with institutional procedures and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of care quality and safety.

Faced with demanding situations and diverse challenges, you demonstrate discernment, resilience and excellent stress management. Your intellectual curiosity and interest in the evolution of medical knowledge enable you to maintain a high level of expertise.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you collaborate closely with various services, as well as professionals within the institution, in a coordinated and patient-centred approach. You maintain constructive working relationships and promote clear, respectful and appropriate communication with colleagues, patients and their relatives.

Relying on your team spirit, you show solidarity in the face of unforeseen events. As head of clinic, you actively participate in the supervision and training of the service’s junior doctors, adopting a mentoring role and sharing your expertise.

Furthermore, you have the opportunity to participate in ongoing research projects within the service.

You hold a federal medical diploma or an equivalent diploma recognised by the Medical Professions Commission (MEBEKO).

You hold the FMH specialist title in infectiology or an equivalent title recognised by MEBEKO or are about to obtain it. You possess the cantonal practice licence or are able to obtain it before starting your position from the cantonal doctor of the canton of Geneva.

You have at least three years of experience in internal medicine as well as three years of versatile clinical activity in infectious diseases.

You have an excellent command of the French language (minimum C1 level required) and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

With excellent skills in communicating within a multidisciplinary team and with patients, you are a dynamic, flexible and committed person. Moreover, you have demonstrated strong adaptability.

You can work day shifts as well as night and weekend shifts.
