What awaits you.
Some 14,000 colleagues in passenger traffic ensure that the more than 1.3 million SBB customers we transport every day have easy access to public transport and travel safely and punctually from point A to point B. The shunting staff, as a central professional group, make an essential contribution in this regard. An innovative working environment awaits you, where you will move the SBB together with your colleagues, as well as varied and paid training. In addition, you have various opportunities for internal further training, such as training as a category A40 shunting mechanic. Attractive working conditions are important to us, even with irregular hours. Night and weekend work is also paid with us – for example, 16 francs per hour for Sunday work. For night shifts, you also receive time supplements between 10 and 30%. This means you have more free time than employees who do not work at night or on weekends.
What you can move.
- As a shunting specialist, you contribute to our customers travelling reliably and punctually by moving, assembling and disassembling passenger trains according to the train formation plan.
- You direct individual shunting movements and reposition train compositions.
- Your responsibility in preparing trains includes preheating and air conditioning the trains as well as performing brake tests.
- You report irregularities, special incidents or deviations to the competent service.
- Thanks to your safety awareness, it goes without saying that you work according to regulations.
What you bring.
- For this demanding team job 24 hours a day, you are physically and mentally resilient and enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- You have completed basic training and ideally have a professional apprenticeship. Professional experience in the railway or public transport sector is a plus.
- Using modern work tools poses no problem in your daily work.
- You are comfortable in French both orally and in writing (minimum level B2).
Your salary and social benefits.
We have a fair and progressive salary system and are actively committed to pay equality. That is why additional and detailed information about the SBB salary system can be viewed transparently. This position corresponds to requirement level D and entitles you to a level 1 regional allowance. Learn more about salary and social benefits .
