About the job
With more than 13,000 employees representing 160 professions, the Geneva University Hospitals are a reference institution at both national and international levels. To learn more about our institution, take a few minutes to discover the highlights of the year 2025 by clicking here .
The position is attached to the Operations Department . This department's mission is to ensure the stewardship and logistics necessary for the smooth running of all HUG services, in terms of catering, cleaning and disinfection of premises, and laundry hygiene. It also manages the sterilisation service, the biomedical and equipment service, as well as Cressy-Santé. More than 1,350 professionals carry out their duties daily with constant attention to quality, a sense of service, and environmental responsibility.
The Biomedical & Equipment Service, composed of 52 employees, is responsible for managing the medical equipment fleet of the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG). Its main functions are technological and regulatory monitoring, investment programming, prescription, acquisition, and maintenance of medical equipment. Furthermore, this service implements and monitors materiovigilance prescriptions (the head of service is the materiovigilance correspondent of HUG with SwissMedic).
You will be integrated into the biomedical and equipment service of HUG, within the Biomedical Engineering Sector (SIB), and supervised by excellent professionals.
This internship is part of two themes:
The development of the biomedical network of French-speaking Switzerland and biomedical benchmarks.
The development of the Quality Management System (QMS) of the Service
The service relies on the Guide to Good Biomedical Practices and, as part of continuous improvement and its corrective action plan, you will contribute to updating the 2022 & 2024 self-assessments of the service within its quality approach, and in preparation for AFAQ Certification. In this context, you will also actively participate in updating the quality documentation within the biomedical EDM.
The biomedical network of French-speaking Switzerland is organised around 3 Romand Biomedical Technical Groups (investment and technological monitoring, maintenance and operation, quality and vigilance). You will actively participate in the development of this network by taking up the progress of the various works carried out by these TGs and consolidating upcoming work (benchmarks and comparisons between hospitals and clinics), creating standards and making information available through communication tools to be built and maintained. In this context, you will be required to work and exchange with all hospital biomedical services in French-speaking Switzerland.
You will also have the opportunity to get concretely involved in several projects at different stages of progress or coordination.
Qualifications
You are currently pursuing university studies in biomedical engineering (Master's in progress or possibly final year Bachelor), or in Quality Systems (preferably with knowledge of medical devices), as well as experience (internship or other) in the hospital or similar field.
You have in-depth knowledge of standard office software (MS Office, SharePoint) and are generally comfortable with IT tools. Knowledge of communication tools (website or others) and/or databases is a plus.
You are comfortable with document management and entering technical information to feed the project database management tools.
You have a sense of rigour and organisation. You act methodically and efficiently and demonstrate communication and listening skills.
You know how to work in a team and are familiar with project management in the field of medical devices (and related regulations).
In addition to your collaborative spirit, you are autonomous and discreet and ensure smooth information flow.
