About the job
The clinical range of services of the Institute for Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine (IFA) includes all anaesthesia procedures for outpatient and inpatient surgical as well as diagnostic interventions, including comprehensive pre- and postoperative care. Other central areas of responsibility are the treatment of acute and chronic pain, shock room care for critically ill patients, and the in-hospital resuscitation service. Furthermore, the institute provides emergency physicians for preclinical ground and air emergency care as well as the intensive transfer service in close cooperation with Protection & Rescue Zurich (SRZ) and the Swiss Air-Rescue (REGA). Within the framework of highly specialised medicine, the USZ additionally holds service mandates for all transplantations and for the treatment of severely burned and multiply injured patients. The institute is a training centre certified by the Swiss Institute for Medical Continuing and Further Education (SIWF) of category A1.

Senior Physician (m/f/d) for Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine 80-100%

Your main tasks
- Independent anaesthesiological care of patients from all medical disciplines in operative, interventional and diagnostic areas of basic care, maximum care and highly specialised medicine, including care of complex cardio- and vascular surgical as well as transplant medical procedures
- Participation in shift and on-call duties
- Assumption of leadership, organisational and coordination tasks
- Commitment to the continuous development of the institute, in particular active shaping and further development of medical training, patient care, quality assurance, research and teaching including the design and implementation of new teaching and training formats
- Guidance, supervision, training and mentoring of assistant and senior physicians
- Assumption of regulatory leadership responsibility in the field of translational research
Your profile
- Specialist title in Anaesthesiology (FMH or equivalent)
- Many years of professional and leadership experience in a university environment with universal operative deployability and flexibility
- Extensive experience in cardio-surgical, vascular surgical and transplant medical anaesthesiology
- Habilitation or habilitation-equivalent achievement as well as proven experience in experimental and translational research, didactic skills
- Commitment and enthusiasm for the training and promotion of assistant physicians as well as the further development of medical training and university teaching
- Enjoyment of interprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration - especially in complex patient care
- Strong leadership and social skills as well as a high sense of responsibility
- High resilience, initiative and a solution-oriented working style
- Enjoyment in actively shaping change processes,
- With your empathetic, integrative personality you specifically promote team spirit, interprofessional cooperation and strengthen the trust of patients
