About the job
Caretaker (m/f/d) - With Responsibility and Heart for Our Buildings
In the Facility Services department of ETH Zurich, we create the optimal conditions for teaching, research and technology transfer. We maintain the buildings and ensure the energy and media supply as well as the technical and infrastructural building management of all rooms used by ETH Zurich.
Are you handy, solution-oriented and able to keep an overview even in turbulent moments? Then help us shape the future of infrastructural building management at ETH Zurich!
For the Hönggerberg site, we are looking for a caretaker in the HP building area from 1 May 2027 or by arrangement.
Job Description
In this versatile position, you support the management of infrastructural building management in daily operations and contribute significantly to ensuring that our buildings are operated smoothly, efficiently and user-oriented.
You independently carry out repairs, perform inspections and maintenance, and are the first point of contact for users and external service providers. You identify potential improvements and actively contribute your ideas.
A highlight of your work are our small and large events: you accompany the events, coordinate the deployment of all involved parties, are responsible for setup and dismantling, and assist users with operating the multimedia technology to ensure every event runs smoothly.
Implementing the waste disposal concept is also part of your responsibilities, as is ensuring cleaning quality, either through your own efforts or by coordinating external service providers.
As a link between technology, service providers and users, you ensure high satisfaction and quality. In addition, you take on on-call duties and shift work tasks, such as opening and closing buildings.
You process tickets in the CAFM system, obtain quotes and accompany external specialists during their assignments.
You are also a key person in the area of safety: you ensure personal and operational safety, manage fire alarm systems and security areas, respond to alarms, provide first aid in emergencies and support the fire alarm and evacuation teams.
As part of promoting young talent, you support the trainer in the education of apprentices by assigning work tasks as well as providing professional guidance and supervision.
