About the job
Job Offer: Senior Process Engineer - Optical Metrology (m/f/d)
Location: Eastern Switzerland (St. Gallen Rhine Valley) | Industry: High-End Photonics & Optics
About our Client
Our client is an international technology champion in the field of photonics. As part of a global group, the site in the Rhine Valley develops highly precise optical key systems for the semiconductor industry, medical technology, and surveying. Optics are created here that operate at the limits of what is physically possible.
Your Mission
You are the technical conscience of manufacturing. In this expert role, you are responsible for the metrology strategy for highly complex optical components. You not only define how measurements are taken but also develop new methods to make future product generations qualifiable in the first place.
Your Focus Areas
Method Development: Design and validation of novel measurement and calibration procedures (e.g. interferometry) for optical assemblies.
Process Ownership: Ensuring measurement system capability and process stability (Gage R&R, MSA) in a high-volume environment.
Technology Transfer: Leading projects to introduce new metrology technologies – from feasibility studies in the laboratory to implementation in series production.
Automation: Development of automated evaluation routines (e.g. with MATLAB, Python or LabView) to increase data analysis efficiency.
Troubleshooting: Physical analysis of deviations and close collaboration with R&D and Quality to find solutions.
Your Profile
Education: Degree (MSc or PhD) in Physics, Photonics or a comparable engineering discipline.
Experience: Several years of practice in the optical industry, ideally with a focus on metrology, interferometry or lens characterisation.
Know-how: Profound knowledge in technical optics (ISO 10110) as well as experience with analysis software (MATLAB, LabView or MetroPro).
Personality: An analytical problem solver who masters statistical methods (Six Sigma) as well as the physical fundamentals of wave optics.
Languages: Very good German and English.
The Offer
A key position in one of Europe’s leading optics clusters ("Photonics Valley").
High-tech infrastructure and clean processes (cleanroom environment).
A collegial environment with short decision-making paths and a strong focus on innovation.
