The Information Department produces numerous offerings for audio, video and SRF's digital channels. With versatile news and background formats as well as contextualising discussion and advisory programmes on current events in politics, economy and society, SRF facilitates the audience's opinion formation – informative, competent and independent.
Moderator Arena
What are your tasks?
The "Talk Information" area works multimedia and is among other things responsible for the programme "Arena". It brings Swiss politics to the people and contributes to opinion formation.
From January 2027 or by arrangement, you will moderate three editions of "Arena" monthly:
- As moderator of "Arena" you are the face of the programme and regularly present, supported by an experienced team, one of the central discussion programmes of the German-speaking Switzerland
- You shape "Arena" in collaboration with the lead producer so that every Friday an engaged and controversial discussion on current topics with high-profile guests from politics, economy and society takes place
- You set content priorities and are jointly responsible with the producer for the dramaturgical development of the debate. You work out the programme sequence in the team, search for questions and formulations
- You engage intensively with political topics, processes and debates, research and prepare thoroughly for the debates. You also actively participate in topic selection, research and acquisition of "Arena" guests
What do you bring?
- Extensive experience in controversial conversation management in front of the camera. You conduct talks and interviews confidently and perform well in live situations. Please link your own examples of conversations and moderations in front of the camera in your application documents
- Very good knowledge of Swiss politics and economy as well as important personalities from these areas, high news affinity
- Ability and interest to delve into a political topic beyond the headlines and daily news
- You are a team player, extremely resilient and rely on arguments in journalistic dialogue, but can also endure conflicts
What can you look forward to?
- As moderator of "Arena" you dive deep into a political dossier every week and are very close to political events and key players. You understand connections and know much that is not public. You are very close to Bern and national politics – while maintaining spatial and critical distance
