Role:
On behalf of the client, we are seeking an experienced professional as Construction Manager for Structural Engineering for the realisation of demanding general contractor/subcontractor projects in industrial, commercial, and residential construction. You will take on operational construction management and ensure compliance with project goals regarding quality, deadlines, and costs. Your responsibilities particularly include coordination of subcontractors, performance control, tendering, and awarding as well as the independent handling of defined project areas. The position offers a varied project environment with construction sites within the German-speaking part of Switzerland and close cooperation with project management.
Responsibilities:
Taking over the construction management of general contractor/subcontractor structural engineering projects from the execution phase to acceptance and handover
Ongoing performance control regarding quality, quantity, costs, and deadlines as well as documentation of construction progress
Coordination and management of subcontractors, specialist planners, and other project participants on site
Support with tendering, bid comparisons, and awarding of subcontractor services
Independent handling and responsibility for defined sub-areas within complex construction projects in coordination with project management
Creation, monitoring, and updating of construction schedules and timelines as well as early identification of schedule deviations
Control of measurements, extra work, and contractor services as a basis for cost control and billing
Conducting and documenting construction and coordination meetings as well as consistent follow-up of open points
Ensuring professional construction execution according to SIA standards, contracts, execution plans, and Swiss building regulations
Coordination of acceptances and defect rectifications as well as accompanying the handover of the building
Ensuring compliance with quality management, occupational safety, and site organisation requirements
Qualifications:
Degree as Construction Manager HF, Construction Engineer FH, or comparable qualification in construction
At least 3 years of professional experience in construction management, ideally with general contractor/subcontractor structural engineering projects in Switzerland
Solid knowledge of construction processes, scheduling, tendering, awarding, and subcontractor coordination
Good knowledge of relevant SIA standards, Swiss building regulations, and contract fundamentals
Experience in quality, cost, and performance control during construction execution
Very good German language skills spoken and written
Willingness to work on construction sites within the German-speaking part of Switzerland
