About the job
The acute geriatrics department at the Lucerne site has 21 beds and provides interdisciplinary care for both surgical and internal medicine patients. The overarching goal is to maintain or restore independence in daily life and quality of life. In addition to treating the underlying disease, targeted assessment and treatment of geriatric syndromes such as gait and balance disorders, cognition, polypharmacy, sensory deficits, swallowing disorders, or malnutrition are carried out. Acute geriatrics is also part of the certified geriatric trauma centre. Within the framework of orthogeriatric co-management, trauma surgery patients are cared for according to the latest scientific findings. We are looking to strengthen our team immediately or by arrangement.
Your area of responsibility
- Ensuring high-quality, evidence-based geriatric care on the acute geriatrics ward including senior physician rounds, interprofessional case discussions and family conversations, as well as participation in the general internal medicine on-call system
- Commitment to the training and further education of assistant physicians and nursing staff and involvement in geriatric and orthogeriatric training courses
- Active participation in the geriatric trauma centre as an interdisciplinary flagship project of orthogeriatric care, including trauma surgery rounds, consultative co-management, GTZ reporting and geriatric outpatient clinic
- Shaping the further development of acute geriatrics, with prospective involvement in the internal medicine ward rounds and the opportunity for clinical research and academic development
Your experience
- Specialist title in General Internal Medicine (FMH or equivalent) with a subspecialty in Geriatrics (recognised qualification or in training, near completion)
- Proven clinical expertise in acute geriatrics with a solid foundation in internal medicine
- Experience in orthogeriatric care is an advantage
- Understanding of integrated, interdisciplinary care models
