IT Operations Specialist / System Engineer (80-100%)

To complement our well-established and motivated team, we are looking immediately or by arrangement at our headquarters in Urdorf near Zurich for a proactive, independent and motivated IT Operations Specialist / System Engineer (80-100%).

Job Description

This position combines two complementary roles at Sopra Steria:

1. IT Operations/Workplace Services
2. System Engineer & Infrastructure

IT Operations & Workplace Services (approx. 50%)

• Installation, configuration and provision of PCs, laptops, mobile devices and peripherals
• Management and lifecycle management of end devices including hardware replacement
• Installation, configuration and maintenance of standard software as well as client systems
• Processing of IT service requests and incidents in the ticketing system
• User and permission management (Active Directory, Microsoft 365, LDAP)
• Planning and execution of hardware and software orders including delivery and installations on site and at the customer
• Participation in rollouts of new hardware and workplace solutions
• Maintenance of inventory and documentation of IT workplaces
• Support in the continuous improvement of IT service processes

System Engineering & Infrastructure (approx. 50%)

• Building a deep technical understanding of our overarching control systems
• Installation and administration of in-house developed applications and solutions
• Responsibility for the stability, maintenance and further development of our on-premise infrastructure as well as selected customer environments
• Technical 2nd/3rd level support focusing on servers, virtualisation, networks and central IT services
• Analysis and resolution of complex technical faults in close cooperation with the engineering and development teams
• Participation in infrastructure, cloud and security projects
• Installation, configuration and maintenance of server, storage and network components
• Support in the further development of our monitoring, backup and automation solutions
• Participation in the 24/7 on-call service in a rotating system (approx. 1 week per month, fully compensated)

Qualifications

• Completed training in the field of computer science or as an ICT specialist EFZ or comparable further education
• Several years of professional experience in IT operations, system engineering or IT infrastructure
• Practical experience operating both Windows client and server environments as well as Linux-based server environments
• Good knowledge of Active Directory
• Experience with hardware provisioning and client lifecycle management
• Experience with ticketing systems (e.g. Jira Service Management)
• Good knowledge in the field of networks (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, VPN, firewall)
• Experience with VMware or comparable virtualisation solutions
• Independent, structured and solution-oriented working style, as well as problem-solving mentality
• Willingness to travel within Switzerland
• Willingness to participate in on-call service
• Enjoyment of direct contact with users
• Very good German skills as well as good English skills

Nice-to-have

• Experience with PowerShell, Bash or Python
• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure
• Experience with backup solutions (e.g. Veeam)
• Experience with monitoring systems (e.g. Zabbix)
• French language skills are an advantage
