Mandatory Nursing Internship in Neurorehabilitation

for medical students at the University of Bern

In the University Acute Neurorehabilitation department, we work interdisciplinarily and treat our patients in the early phase following a brain injury or brain disease. We place great importance on personalised care. In this exciting area of responsibility, we offer a 4-week nursing internship in accordance with the requirements of the University of Bern, Bachelor of Medicine programme.

What to expect

You are a medical student at the University of Bern and are completing a 4-week nursing internship as a prerequisite for admission to the 2nd year of study. With us, you will care for and support patients at all stages following a brain injury or disease – from early rehabilitation to discharge preparation. The internship must be completed without interruption at a 100% employment level.

• Passed aptitude test for medical studies in Switzerland (EMS) or enrolment at the University of Bern, Bachelor of Medicine
• Interest in gaining insight into the fields of health and nursing care
• Motivation and initiative to achieve your learning objectives
• Willingness to apply newly acquired skills in everyday practice
• Empathy to care for our patients and their relatives
